Plus: Pivotal window to secure green standards in Mississauga
Hey GTHA,
This edition includes an open letter to cities about clean electricity, the chance to secure green buildings in Mississauga, a new report on how municipalities can get the most out of retrofits, and two new funding opportunities.
Could cities save the Clean Electricity Regulations? On February 16, the federal government released a discussion paper proposing several changes to the CER. While some of these would provide helpful flexibility in the regulation, all together they represent a significant undermining of the policy.
Municipalities and local stakeholders are a powerful influence. We provide three ways you can help now.
Live or work in Mississauga? Take action by writing your councillor to support this important policy. They’re a proven way to ensure homes and buildings are healthy and affordable to heat and cool for decades to come.

Check out their practical recommendations for all levels of government, including insights on building codes, prefabricated housing, and extreme heat protection.
RETROFITS → ReCover and QUEST Canada have released new research to support small- to medium-sized municipalities with reducing their community’s energy and emissions. This guide is drawn from experts in the field and incorporates community priorities and practical recommendations to get retrofit work off the ground. Register for the launch webinar on March 14.
