TORONTO – The Atmospheric Fund (TAF) is pleased to announce a $3.25 million investment in Connor, Clark, & Lunn Infrastructure (CC&L Infrastructure), a Canadian firm focused on acquiring and actively managing middle-market infrastructure assets.
Targeting a diversified spectrum of infrastructure projects, CC&L Infrastructure’s flagship strategy invests in energy and energy transition, transportation, water, environmental, digital, social, and other infrastructure investments with attractive risk-return characteristics and the potential to generate stable cashflow.
CC&L Infrastructure recently acquired a majority interest in the Sharp Hills wind farm, located in Alberta. At approximately 300 MW of capacity, the Sharp Hills wind farm is one of Canada’s largest onshore wind facilities, representing clean energy generation equivalent to the amount of power used by more than 160,000 Alberta homes.
“This investment with CC&L Infrastructure demonstrates the opportunity to earn commercial, risk adjusted returns while supporting investments that grow the net-zero economy,” said Kristian Knibutat, VP of Impact Investing at TAF. “Renewable energy projects like the Sharp Hills wind farm represent important infrastructure for decarbonizing the electricity grid, while fulfilling fiduciary responsibility. We appreciate CC&L Infrastructure’s dedicated team and commitment to embedding Responsible Investment considerations within their due diligence process.”
“The Sharp Hills wind farm is an attractive addition to our increasingly diverse portfolio of infrastructure assets. We look forward to working further with our partner, EDPR, in the safe and successful operation of this facility for years to come,” said Matt O’Brien, President of CC&L Infrastructure. “CC&L Infrastructure has a long history and significant expertise as an owner of more than 80 clean energy projects. We are excited to continue expanding our asset base and are actively pursuing further investment opportunities created by the increasing demand for renewable power and the broader energy transition that is underway.”
