December 2017. Improving transportation in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area (GTHA) is crucial for the economic success and the quality of life throughout the region. Following up on its Big Move plan, Metrolinx recently published a draft Regional Transportation Plan with 2041 as the planning horizon. The Pembina Institute and The Atmospheric Fund (TAF) teamed up to analyze the crucial draft plan and provide the Ontario government with constructive feedback how to strengthen the far-reaching plan. One of the key weaknesses of the document: Beyond the current wave of transit projects, there is no committed funding to achieve the vision for a regional transit network, and there is no list of prioritized projects.
