January 2018. Government of Ontario. Through the Clean Economy Alliance, TAF provided comments to Ontario’s Long-Term Infrastructure Plan to consider best approaches to building a resilient, low-carbon future. We strongly support the adoption of a life-cycle assessment (LCA) approach for determining infrastructure investments. However, we emphasized the need for a lower threshold for projects to have to conduct a LCA, since under the current proposal LCAs won’t be required from projects under 50 million for transportation expansion, 75 million for transportation rehabilitation and 20 million for other sectors. Projects that are funded by the province and implemented by municipalities should also include LCAs. Ultimately, we encourage transparency from the ministry’s approval process for infrastructure projects.
