August 2017. Government of Canada. Governments at all levels in Canada are working on making new buildings more energy efficient. But we still lack a comprehensive plan to achieve significant reductions in carbon emissions from existing buildings. The Pan-Canadian Framework on Clean Growth and Climate Change recognizes this need and commits the federal government to the development of a national model code for existing buildings by 2022 – an important first step. Co-authored by The Atmospheric Fund and the Pembina Institute, this report outlines what a national strategy for retrofitting existing buildings to reach Canada’s climate targets could look like.
