December 2021. Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area. The regional carbon emissions inventory for the Greater Toronto Hamilton Area includes two years of data (2019 and 2020) and provides the first look at emissions since the global pandemic. Consistent methodology, data sources, and time frames chart progress across the Region of Durham, Halton Region, City of Hamilton, Region of Peel, and City of Toronto. Five-years of data is showing a relatively flat line – emissions in the GTHA are now about 2.0% above 2015 emissions, notwithstanding the 2020 anomaly. The data reveals that the GTHA is not on track to reduce emissions in line with local or international 2030 climate commitments. Read the media release.
