Privacy Policy
The Atmospheric Fund (legally the Toronto Atmospheric Fund) – or TAF for short – is committed to protecting the privacy of any personal information you may provide when visiting our website.
Part of that commitment is to explain what information may be collected and why, how it will be used and who may have access to it. Our practices have been designed to ensure compliance with the privacy provisions of the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.
This privacy statement applies to interactions with TAF’s web server. It does not apply to any other website. Below is an overview of our website practices.
Personal information
When you visit TAF’s website, you do so anonymously — there is no need to tell us who you are.
TAF’s web server does not collect or retain your email address in a database format, although some Internet Service Providers (ISPs) may automatically include your email address with your Internet Protocol (IP) address.
Collecting and using information
Either before or when we collect information about you, we will explain how we intend to use it. We will limit the information we collect to what we need for those purposes, and we will use it only for those purposes.
Releasing information
We will not release any of your information to other persons.
Protecting information
We will protect your information with appropriate safeguards and security measures. We will retain your information only for the time it is required for the purposes we explain.
Logging practices
TAF logs HTTP requests to the TAF web server. These logs record the IP address of site visitors. An IP address is the number automatically assigned to the computer or to the ISP requesting a URL. TAF cannot identify you from this information.
We do not link information with the identity of individuals visiting our site unless an attempt to damage our site has been detected.
Cookie practices and email distribution lists
The TAF website does not use cookies. TAF, through its use of third-party email distribution list management services, may track overall, non-personal, email usage and hyperlink engagement. We will do so using standard email tracking methods, such as measuring hyperlink clicks and/or embedding a tiny tracking image. We do so to measure and improve the performance and quality of our website.
