The government can support our heat pump hero
Accelerating the adoption of heat pump technology can improve energy affordability and reduce carbon emissions, while enhancing health and comfort. It’s great the Government of Ontario has committed to encouraging the use of heat pumps in its Made-in-Ontario Environment Plan. It could accelerate the use of heat pumps, while generating multiple environmental, economic, and social benefits, by:
- Providing incentives for heat pump retrofits
- Providing incentives for the use of heat pumps in new construction
- Supporting project financing for heat pump deployment
- Supporting heat pump adoption through the Ontario Building Code
