The project aims to give residents in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area (GTHA) greater control over the electricity they consume through Community Virtual Net Metering (CVNM). CVNM will enable residents of Ontario to purchase local, renewable electricity directly from co-operatives, creating clean energy and employment opportunities while retaining the benefits within the province. Project activities include engagement of stakeholders (e.g., co-op members, partner renewable energy cooperatives, government, and electricity experts) to complete market research and development of community virtual net metering business models, and to advocate for regulatory changes that enable community virtual net metering.
