Founded in 2009 in Scarborough (Toronto), eCAMION Inc., operating as Jule, began as an energy management company specializing in battery storage and software solutions. In 2018, Jule expanded into electric vehicle (EV) charging, capitalizing on the growing availability of EV infrastructure incentives across North America. In 2019, the company partnered with Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) to launch its first public Direct Current Fast Charging (DCFC) stations along the Trans-Canada Highway, enhancing mobility in remote communities by integrating DCFC and Battery Energy Storage Solutions (BESS). TAF’s partnership with Jule will build off of the company’s previous successes in deploying its integrated DCFC + BESS to scale out the company’s stations throughout Ontario and accelerate the deployment of critical EV and grid infrastructure in underserved markets.
This investment aligns with TAF’s strategic focus on Accelerating EV Uptake and Clean Electrification. Through the deployment of DC fast charging and BESS, Jule is enabling critical EV and grid management solutions in underserved markets that face adoption barriers. TAF’s financing builds on existing government-supported partnerships, helps de-risk the technology, supports Jule’s expansion for broader deployment. This initiative also serves as a valuable learning opportunity to inform and strengthen TAF’s approach to future government-supported project financing.
