A longstanding objective of TAF has been to help with the creation of Canada’s first ‘green bank’ right here in Ontario. To this end, TAF proposed a number of recommendations to the Ontario Ministry of Environment and Climate Change. The envisioned “Ontario Green Bank” would focus on lowering one of the greatest barriers to large scale energy efficiency and carbon emission reduction activity – upfront capital. TAF’s design recommendations are aimed at accelerating the reduction of carbon emissions from major emissions sources, and de-risk low-carbon investments to mobilize private capital. TAF’s efforts bore fruit with the creation of the Green Ontario Fund in 2017.
