The federal government will soon release its 2020 budget, a critical part of Canada's plan to advance low-carbon solutions. TAF participated in the pre-budget consultation and recommended leadership in three key areas:
Low-carbon homes and buildings
Zero-emissions vehicle rebates and charging stations
Market transformation for a low-carbon building sector
TAF policy and programs VP Bryan Purcell recommended the adoption and proper resourcing of the Burlington Climate Action Plan to Burlington's Environment Committee and a full house of interested delegates yesterday.
We are pleased that Burlington is following their climate emergency declaration with strong plans to transition to a low-carbon economy. We look forward to supporting the plan in action.
TAF has completed another phase of energy efficiency retrofits at R.J. Smith Apartments in Toronto, where we installed about 700 radiators and 500 thermostats.
This phase was financed by an Energy Savings Performance Agreement™ (ESPA™). The ESPA™ is a non-debt financing agreement that makes it possible for building owners to improve energy efficiency and building performance without spending any money upfront. The agreement gives building managers and owners the flexibility to add additional energy saving measures during the payback period like at R.J. Smith Apartments.
