TAF is providing $4.2 Million in financing and grants for energy efficiency retrofits in seven Toronto Community Housing Corp (TCHC) buildings. Accelerated upgrades and energy cost savings will be used to support building operations and capital repairs. Retrofits are projected to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 30% and trim utility costs by 20%, creating benefits for the City, TCHC, and the environment.
Indoor Environmental Quality Study
TCHC resident volunteers have welcomed TAF into their homes to install cutting-edge air quality and comfort monitoring equipment. TAF is measuring comfort before and after the retrofits as part of a first-of its-kind research partnership with the University of Toronto. The findings will provide insight into the potential for health and comfort improvements in the field of energy efficiency.
Financing & Technology
Investment capital is structured as a TAF Energy Savings Performance Agreement. Engineers from Ecosystem Energy are designing the retrofit project to maximize water and energy conservation, such as high efficiency boiler upgrades and low-flow toilets and faucets.
